Jim Leonard

I am a devout Christian Catholic and an Oblate for the Benedictine Monastery of the Risen Christ in San Luis Obispo, CA. My spiritual path included in-depth Bible Study and study of the mystical saints. Lectio Divina, centering prayer, and contemplative prayer have furthered my desire to help others find their spiritual path. Most of my religious studies occurred after retirement from a technical writing and proposal consulting service business.

After retirement, I had a deep desire to read the Bible, and understand what it has for me. While learning to pray, I was overcome by the need to help some of my family members deal with the death of an unborn child. This need resulted in my first short story publication in the Monterey Observer newspaper. This started me on the publication route and my first book “A Little Bible Guide for Carly” was issued in 2005.

Since then, I was a member of the Friday Night Writers group and participated in weekly review and critique meeting. These reviews helped to focus my writing and later led to writing poetry, prayers, and thoughts for meditation. My latest writing endeavor includes working with Debra Davis Hinkle to collect and organize some of our stories and poems into an anthology dedicated to grief recovery. Tears to Laughter was completed in 2013 and published in Kindle and paperback formats.
